Monday Will Never Be The Same
Welcome to another great week in Room 262! This week we have lots of things to do, and I'm looking forward to every minute of it.
A few quick reminders:
1. Field Trip - Tomorrow to Breman Center; Make sure that your child has a good breakfast tomorrow because we will not have lunch until we return from the museum.
2. New Timeline for Term 5 Project - I will be emailing a new timeline for the project in a few minutes.
3. Spelling/Vocabulary - Our spelling and vocabulary work this term is focused on learning Greek and Latin roots. We will be adding 6 more roots this term.
Here is a list of the roots we have been studying so far:
4. We will be doing an experiment to show chemical weathering this week. We will take a look at plate tectonics on Monday. Thanks to everyone who donated supplies for this activity.
5. Our Tybee trip is fast approaching! Please make sure I have any phone number updates before spring break. We will call you when we are about an hour away from FAVE to make sure that you know when we will return. Also, the buses leave promptly at 6 AM! Please plan to arrive early in order to avoid missing the bus! We will not wait on late students.
6. I have been talking with students about using Lexile levels to find books that are on their reading level when AR values are not available. One website that is useful to look up books it www.lexile.com. This site will give students Lexile levels. It also has some summaries and vocabulary information about books. All students were given their Lexile levels in our reading conferences. Please let me know if your student has misplaced this information.
7. We are also using a great, new, non-fiction resource. The website is called www.newsela.com. Students can read news articles on a variety of topics, and the best part is they can increase/decrease the level of complexity. All students should have a password and username. Please let me know if they do not have this information.
Have a great week!
