Georgia Milestone Practice (GMAS)

ELA Practice

Students needs to write more than 1 sentence in response to these prompts.  These are intended to be answered with a paragraph/essay.  They need to use the text to support their answers.

One way for students to show that they are directly quoting, paraphrasing, or providing evidence is by using sentence stems.

Some examples of these stems are:
In the text the author states______________
The story stated ___________________
I know this because___________________
For example__________________
The author says______________
In paragraph # _____, it says
The graphic showed ____________

Check out the blog tomorrow for some more tips and some more practice!  If you you want some feedback about your responses, send me your answers on Edmodo.

Also, don't forget that you can practice your grammar skills on IXL.com and that you can practice summarizing non-fiction on newsela.com.

Have a great day!
