Reminders
Just a reminder that we will begin MAP testing tomorrow. I spoke with all the students today about their goals. All students are capable of meeting and exceeding their goals! However, many students were extremely distracted today, and we had a tough day paying attention and getting our Exhibition work done. Please remind your students about the importance of being caring and respectful to their classmates and adults throughout the building. We are also having issues with regard to cooperation on Exhibition projects. Please make sure to reinforce that school is not over and the we have a lot to do between now and the end of the year, and that it is essential for all students to work together.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Exhibition Week 2
To begin the week, students worked together to categorize and improve their research questions. On Friday, students met with their groups for the first time to establish a set of essential agreements, or rules, that they will use to guide their group work. Students will have their first mentoring sessions this week and we will be refining their research questions, working on developing research strategies, and beginning the research process.

Milestones Practice
ELA Practice
Students need to write more than 1 sentence in response to these prompts. These are intended to be answered with a paragraph/essay. They need to use the text to support their answers. Students should also be reminded to use the writing process even though they are typing their responses to the prompts on the iPad.
One way for students to show that they are directly quoting, paraphrasing, or providing evidence is by using sentence stems.
Some examples of these stems are:
In the text the author states______________
The story stated ___________________
I know this because___________________
For example__________________
The author says______________
In paragraph # _____, it says
The graphic showed ____________
Also, don't forget that you can practice summarizing non-fiction on newsela.com.
Math GMAS Practice
